Nurse Question

by Nancy Bush
(Karnak, Illinois)

A 12 year old boy was shot in the right cheek two years ago and spent a year in a children's hospital where fought for his life and won.
He is now at home with parents and five siblings.
He is alert and knows his parents, able to communicate by shaking his head to yes or no questions. He has a G-Button and has difficulty and no motivation to swallow. I want to know what exercises and help there is to improve his communication leading to regaining his speech and also ways to help his swallowing pureed foods for now?
Thnx,
Nancy Nurse
